Tips for Choosing a Therapist

When exploring your options, consider:

  • Specialization: Do they have experience with your specific concerns (e.g., trauma, ADHD, identity work)?

  • Cultural Competence: Do they understand your cultural, religious, or lived experiences?

  • Approach: Do their methods (e.g., EMDR, somatic therapy, talk therapy) align with your needs?

  • Logistics: Availability, fees, and whether they accept your insurance

A Note on Fit

Therapy is a collaborative process. It’s okay to:

  • Ask questions before committing

  • Try a few sessions and reassess

  • Switch providers if it doesn’t feel like the right fit

Finding the right therapist is an important step—and you deserve care that feels supportive, safe, and aligned.
